Also, your pediatrician’s office might offer a lactation nurse or consultant that might be able to assist on call, in addition, to offering new mom groups that discuss topics such as time management, age-appropriate developmental play, breastfeeding and returning to work, and surviving the first three months. Check with your pediatrician for more information.
Fun Fact. A prominent role model in reviving the practice of breastfeeding was Princess Diana, who breastfed after giving birth to Prince William in 1982. According to Delores James, a professor in UF’s department of health education and behavior, “All of a sudden breastfeeding was the innovation and it became something women wanted to do because “Oh the princess was doing it,” she said.[1]
